Include (but are not limited to): Manage histology staff and coordinate all histology activities. Manage project timelines for all active projects – update timeline/status every two weeks; Provide project status data to, and interact with, contracts and Pathology Program Manager to participate in the projection of cash flow, revenue, and project completion/costs; Manage operational aspects of Histology program; Estimate study costs; Resolve team and customer complaints, problems, and issue; Assure on-time and on-budget submission of deliverables; Assist in selecting, interviewing, and hiring new staff;Represent ILS to clients;Technical oversight and direction of all histology staff; Routine staining- use and programming of autostainer; reagent preparation; use of coverslipper and manual coverslipping.; Microtomy – produce quality sections free of aesthetic defects; frozen sectioning. Special staining – identify appropriate control; follow and/or modify specified procedure(s); reagent preparation, including single, serial, and concentration dilutions; interpret staining quality; troubleshooting; and develop new staining procedures. Embedding - per SOP; use and programming of tissue processors; development of processing schedules. Trimming - tissue identification; trimming per SOP and NIEHS guidelines; Necropsy - tissue identification; dissection according to SOP without trauma; gross descriptions per provided guidelines; timed necropsies. Maintenance of lab equipment. Work in a team environment with a professional and positive attitude. Other duties as needed.

Required Education

H.S. diploma or equivalent with > 20 years Histology experience or B.S. degree in Biology or related field with > 16 years Histology experience.

Required Qualifications

Experience with animal tissue.  Proficiency with special stains, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and microscopy.  ASCP Registered Histology Technician required.
