Responsibilities/Duties

The ILS Molecular Toxicology Group conducts molecular biology studies and gene expression profiling in support of safety assessment for both federal and commercial clients. 
 
Responsibilities will include conduct of next generation sequencing (NGS) based expression profiling (RNA-Seq; CHIPSeq), QC of NGS data, qRT-PCR, and experience with cell culture or flow cytometry is desirable. Additional responsibilities include developing quotes for client with business development, perform laboratory maintenance tasks and assist in preparation protocols, reports, SOPs, assay forms; assist with software validation and instrument qualification; train others in assay procedures and basic lab skills; work independently with minimal instruction; work in a team environment with a professional and positive attitude. Other duties as needed. Distinction of Molecular Biologist/Research Associate level will be based on years of experience and level of independence of potential candidates.

Required Education

B.S. or M.S. in biology or related field with >2 years relevant experience. 

Required Qualifications

Experience with basic molecular biology laboratory procedures (DNA/RNA isolation and qualification) and NGS required. Excellent laboratory skills with attention for detail required. Mammalian cell culture or flow cytometry experience desirable. Excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent computer skills working with word processing, spreadsheets and databases; strong organizational skills required. A flexible schedule and occasional weekend work may be required.
